Note: This is a song from the album ประชาธิปไตย “Democracy,” complaining about the sad state of Thai democracy at the time. Note that the title, “ผู้ทน” “Poo Ton” (enduring person) is alliterative with “ผู้แทน” “Poo Taen (representative). The whole album “Democracy” has a new wave sound, that sounds very fresh and different from other Carabao songs.

* A heads-up for language learners that several words are from a Northern Thai dialect, including (and don’t trust me on this): เฮ็ด (do), อีหยัง (what/how), โซ้ย (exploit), and เฮา (we/us)
**Like, “Thai democracy comes from the Thai people. It can’t be conjured from out of the blue”?
*** He didn’t mention food stands, but the kind of food mentioned is the kind bought from food stands, which is (or at least used to be) the way ordinary Thai people grab (or grabbed) their lunch.
