กูฟังคาราบาว Goo Fang Carabao [I Listen to Carabao]

Note: This song is very much in the style of the band’s multiple-of-five anniversary songs. However, it is not yet the 45th anniversary of the band. And there is already a very, very nice 40th anniversary song.

So I’m out of a “job” (a hobby) translating Carabao songs! I went to post my translation and saw that the video already has a very good English translations. Just select English language subtitles!

As for the mysterious line about “institutions,” it probably has to do with young people from different technical schools (institutions) fighting with each other in brawls at Carabao concerts, which has been a perenial problem for the band.

I do give you my translation of the chorus, only so you can click through and hear the various songs mentioned.

แม้ชีวิตลุ่มๆ ดอนๆ แต่ก่อนนอนต้องฟังเพลงบาว
Even if live goes just goes up and down [getting nowhere], before we lie down, we must listen to ‘Bao songs.
เพลงกัญชา เพลงลุงขี้เมา จนถึงทะเลใจ คนเก็บฟืน… นางงามตู้กระจก
The song Ganja, the song Lung Kee Mao [The Drunken Uncle] on through Telay Jai [Ocean Heart], Kon Gep Feun [The Firewood Collector] . . . Nang Ngam Dtoo Grajok [Glass Cabinet Beauty Queen]
