เสกไม่ได้ Sek Mai Dai (Sek, No You Can’t)

Note: Sek Loso has just released a new album, which contains the song “Aed Carabao” (“แอ๊ด คาราบาว”), a tribute he wrote a little over a year ago.

In the song, Sek praises Aed Carabao profusely for sticking by him [after Sek came out of drug rehab] and for being the King of Sam-Cha music in Thailand. The song “Aed Carabao,” with my translation is now posted HERE at my friend Tahmnong’s amazing Thai music translation site Duangdutjai. The song “Aed Carabao” is by no means the best song on that album. Check out Tahmnong’s review of Sek Loso Part 2 HERE and click through to the songs highlighted. I think she and I are in agreement that the album as a whole is much better than the example of this particular song. My favorite thing about Sek Loso’s song “Aed Carabao” is that it put Aed on the spot and set him up for this awesome reply–a song about Sek–two weeks later [the YouTube below.] So this is a playful exchange between the two artists that unfolded originally on Facebook and YouTube in the weeks just before the 2014 coup. The title of Aed’s song just says “Sek Can’t,” but I read it as, “Sek, you can’t beat me at this game.” In this song, it is important to know that the name “Sek” means “Magic.”

English translation of lyrics (เนื้อเพลงแปลเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ):
