Note: The pronoun “jao” would be for a young child; I translated it as if the child were a boy, but it could also be a girl. A Carabao song on a similar theme is เฒ่าทะเล Tao Talay (Old Man of the Sea)

*This line is the same as above but can be translated two ways, I think. Last time I translated it “Before he [the little child] comes to understand the story” but because the Thai language is so context dependent, I think here it means both “before you come to understand the story” and “Before [he] comes [you] will understand the story.” It helps give the impression that the fishing boat friends are talking over the head of the little boy.
