tâam glaang bpleo dàet
In the middle of the burning sunshine
pàet păo dàng fai
Blazing down like a fire
glaang pĕun din naa-râi
In the middle of the land, a field
kòp fáa gwâang glai sùt dtaa
A panoramic horizon at the end of sight
krai nŏr sôo ton tam ngaan glaang naa
Who is it struggling to work in the middle of the field?
lâi kwaai dûay dùm gum tăi fan fàa
Moving the buffalo along, preoccupied, grasping the plow and pushing on through
krâat naa láa mêuay rá-bom
Harrowing the fields, achy, bruised, and exhausted.

rûng jon jùap kâm
From morning until night
dtràak dtram ngèua nong
Onerous work, covered with sweat
bplaeng pĕun din ngaam pòng
Changing the land to be bright and beautiful
bpen tûng ruang tong nâa chom
A field of lovely golden ears of rice
yaam năao kong yeun fĕun sôo raeng lom
In the cold periods, [they] may stand and fight against the strong wind
gèp gìeow gìeow kâao
Grab the scythe and scythe the rice
mát fôn glom
bind it into round bundles
rá-dom raeng nûat sùt jai
Gather the strength to thresh with all your heart

.. jàak raeng bpen ruang
From that strength, [it] becomes ears of rice
lĕuang ngaam jon kăao pòng
Beautiful yellow until bright white
gèrt jàak tûng ruang tong
Born from the fields of golden rice
gèrt jàak sŏng meu krai
Arising from the two hands of who?

rót kâao hŏm grùn
Flavorful rice, fragrant
hŏm oie lá-mun lá-mai
Oh the scent is soft and gentle
hŏm oie hŏm nai nám jai
The scent, oh the scent of kindness
kŏng mòo chaao naa
of the group of farmers

yàat ngèua rin yòt
Drops of sweat flow
rót long péun din
down and sprinkle the ground
jon pĭw griam choi glìn
Until an odor wafts from their sunburnt skin
tam gin yòo glaang tóng naa
Working to put food on the table,* in the center of a golden field
bòr tór bòr tŏi sôo ton rêuay maa
Not retreating or giving up, pushing patiently on until now
por piang wan nèung chee-wít chaao naa
[Having] enough to live on for a farmer
leum dtaa láe hăai jai
[They] open their eyes and [just] breathe.*

jon pĭw griam choi glìn
Until an odor wafts from their sunburnt skin
tam gin yòo glaang tóng naa
Working to put food on the table,** in the center of a golden field
bòr tór bòr tŏi sôo ton rêuay maa
Not retreating or giving up, pushing patiently on until now
por piang wan nèung chee-wít chaao naa
[Having] enough to live on for a farmer,
leum dtaa láe hăai jai
[they] open their eyes and [just] breathe*.

*ลืมตาและหายใจ” “leum dtaa láe hăai jai” meaning literally “to open the eyes and breathe,” is an idiom meaning things are getting better financially.
**Working to eat, but the closest English language saying would be “Working to put food on the table.” Note, there is no “table” in the original Thai lyrics.
