In 2026, I stopped doing my own translations and starting posting the Google translations directly with no editing, or very little editing. (Admittedly, I have always translated with alot of machine assist, but when I started, 11 years ago, Google translate was hilariously bad at translating Thai.) I’ve noticed that AI hypes things up a little, adding words like “very” and “even,” or using a long workaround to convey a short Thai idiom. I think it wants the song lyrics to sound like they were originally written in English, rather than leave any flavor of the Thai–which was not what I have been doing, but it’s probably for the best going forward. AND it’s infinitely more efficient.
